Waterfowl Hunting
Hunting "crews"
1/18/12 @ 6:06 PM
Is it me. Or does it seem like a lot of the younger waterfowlers need to give their hunting group some sort of corney name and put themselves on some sort of ficticious pedistal???? Don't get me wrong. I would be considered in the "young" category. But really.... Do I need to title myself and my friends the
UPER FOWL ATTITUDE CRUSHERS: or something like that??? I'm sure their are some decent guys involved with such "groups". But my question is WHy>>>????

Rempump870-Them you crews numbers? or just you? lol
Greenheads- +5 for your comment.
I think the kids on here who get upset might not be the ones who are doing the bad things we are talking about..Maybe... If you look back at some of my post I talk about some kids showing off while skyblasting and shooting after hours.. add some decals and a "hip" website to these guys and thats the "tools" I are talking about. Be happy that you do it right. Or shoot a dbl. Good for you. But like Geenhead said. Dont over do it. Nothing is bad about being excited about a good hunt or limit of birds. That should not be the main thing you talk about. I too was once all about the numbers...I now find that I enjoy reading stories about hunts from the "old days" or letting my grandpa talk about when him and his brothers would jump shoot ducks off the train tracks or days spent in a boat with no blind and cold winds and snow but they got 4 ducks...and that was a fun day... dont get me wrong I love when I can go out and get 4 drakes or if we get a group a limit of geese. However I find that its easier for me to put the gun down and enjoy my dog work or explain a decoy spread to a first time kid hunting.
I do have decals on my truck and our trailer and our website. I do it as part of my "job" I know some might take shots at me now but I hope Im seen as being a "Waterfowl Brother" not just some "tool" because of whats on my truck. I try to learn something every time I go out. I have learned a lot from others Ive taken out. I enjoy that a lot.
It's funny how just because I have a picture with a trailer with decals means that it's mine. Truth is my trailer is made out of wood, the trailer in the picture how ever is my uncles buddies. He's 55 years old and owns that trailer. I'm sure if you guys knew that he wouldn't be known as a tool because he is older. But once a younger person has anything relatively close to nice or has some decals on something you guys gotta call them tools. I guess everyone who has a decal no matter what it is is a tool. I see a a lot of logic from what you said.
I would never buy a dual axle triler. I would like to get a nice 4'x8' to haul my decoys in. I'm not looking to be above anyone else up here. The trailer I have now was an old trailer a guy used for hauling tools. We gutted it and now use it as a decoy trailer because I got sick of decoys flying out of the bed of my truck.
And call wise it depends on who they are. I grew up with a $10 echo call that I learned to use over the summer. I then bought a buck garnder goose and duck call. Their not the nicest calls out there but they sound great and are easy to blow for me. Not everyone is a tool. Get to know them before calling someone a tool.
I still don't get the trailer full of stickers? Can anyone explain why one would want that?
Duck Killer-Goose Hanger-Deer stalker-turkey slaying team benelli- remington- mossberg-browning and of course charles daly hunt crew(and yes I have stickers for those)

No one is comparing green horns too the seasoned hunters, no one is saying youth is bad for the sport. We're saying when one douche bag shows up in some ridiculous dual axle trailer with goose busters, duck terrorists, dead on or some other ridiculous name on it, it makes us all look bad. Or when the duck mafia walks in to Cabela's with their matching hoodies and baseball hats, just to go blow on some hundred dollar calls that you won't even buy or can't even use, you look ridiculous. I've lost plenty of good fields because farmers do not want to have a moving bill board in their field, even though I'm not the guy with that bill board they know I'll attract them. Some of these crews have ruined what used to be a good thing for us. I wish we could return the favor, but they do it for themselves. I think what most of us are asking here is, can't you people just act a little humble? That is one thing that has always bugged me about duck hunting, everyone wants too compare numbers. Decoys numbers, kill numbers, number of people in their field or boat, the number of stickers you can fit on your dad's truck or the number of people in your crew
. Just enjoy what you have, stop trying to stick out in a crowd (or in a marsh and field for that matter) and be happy we can even enjoy the sport of waterfowl hunting. I'm glad to see people taking pride that their a duck hunter, especially th kiddos. I know I do. Just do it with a little sense of humility. Although part of me enjoys the hours of entertainment you little Jeff Foiles out there give to my friends and me.

Clint Calder???? Is that you???????
I don't want to disrespect yo skillzzzz! If you can post up a pic of your double or even triple. Sweet! Does your crew give you some sort of reward sticker.... I mean decal for your absolute awesome achievment? I don't think this thread was started to discuss a young hunters ability to gather game. It was to discuss their ability to do such while looking like a jagg rod!
Ok... I have been following this thread for a while now and I just have to chime in. I have heard from a plethora of you "codgers" that us young guys don't appreciate the sport. I'm sorry that me and my buddies not wanting to be 100% stoic in every aspect of the hunt makes us tools. We like to have fun and be goofy sometimes. We follow the laws, we don't look like total A-holes, and we are respectful of other hunters. I'm sorry that you guys don't have the same charisma as we do and HONESTLY I don't care. You guys want to spend your time in the field complaining about us "green horns", I would prefer to get jacked about the amazing double that I just shot. And yea, I'll throw a picture up on the social networking site showing off my accomplishment. Because not everyone has the skill to shoot a double. I guess it's my bad for having pride in my accomplishments. But don't let me stop you. Go ahead and make a mountain out of a mole hill and complain about anyone that doesn't have the same views as you.... That's rational. There's my .02, go ahead and argue but you won't convince me that what we are doing is wrong.
The pic of you or one of your crew homies holding a shed up in the sunset skyline........ Logo to your f.b. page...posted trail cam pic dragging out your kill? I'm thinking of a four letter word. Starts with a T. Ends with a L. You stated earlier to check it out. Lots say its a cool page. Don't be too hard on us though! Again. By advertising who or what you are is a open gateway to feedback. However it may come.
