Go Devil Motor

Hello, I just have a few questions about the motors... First off, ill just say that I have a small 14 foot flat bottom jon boat. I currently have a 9.5 johnson shortshaft motor on it, and it has worked okay, but the lakes that I really like to hunt and fish get really weedy and I have always wanted a mud motor for it. Because of the mods i did to the boat, I dont think I could get more then a 8 horse on it. Now I have found an 8 hp go devil on craigslist, but the guy wants 700 for it... Only being 19 years old i dont want to spend a ton of money, but i know i may have to. I just want to know what you guys think would be a good deal, or what someone would pay for a motor that size... I have a 9hp go devil on my 14ft....I paid $1000 about 7 years ago...He is asking to0 much and wants to make a profit. Put $500 cash infront of his face and see what he does....Depends what kind of shape its in...Mine is over 20 years old and runs like a top....
