How much distance between boards...

when trolling for eyes if you have 3 lines a side. Also do you vary the depths the baits are at and if so which board do you run the deeper set up?

I like to run mine at minimum 50 80 and 110 out. This works best with the length of rods I have and where my rod holders are. I dont like to run mine too close together so I can avoid tangles. Run your deepest bait closest and higher baits, and baits that you might let out more line, outside so when you bring in your outer boards there is less chance of hooking up your inside baits. Definitely try to vary your depths once the fish start to move out a bit deeper off the breaks.

Hoyt, if they are closer together you might pick up more fish when you go through a pod of fish. But you also might miss the pod completely if they're all close together! It's a tough call as ti which option is the best. If I'm fishing a place with a lot of fish and a lot of bites, such as Winnabago, I run them pretty close and tight together. But on a place like Lake Michigan I spread them WAAAAY out.

I do keep them equally spaced when I troll and I modified my boards with tattle flags it was easy and they work well for the most part. I was just wondering about distance to see if I am spreading to far apart and maybe would pick up a few more hits if they were closer together when I come through a pod of fish. On the other hand there is nothing worse than a tangle while trolling. I usually reel my boards up when I get a fish on and it seems to prevent me tangling line for the most part but is that the best way to do it? What do you guys do when you get a fish on?

NI makes a good suggestion: Set your boards so they line up. It's far easier to read them then and you won't have to deal with tattle flags.

Run the deeper baits inside. I run the boards as far out as the body of water and boat traffic dictates. Some days on Lake Superior I have them hundreds of feet out from each side. On Lake Wisconsin with the traffic and stumps they are in pretty close.
