Tattle Tail Flags needed?
8/19/12 @ 11:33 PM
I have just recently been spending a lot of time on 'bago for eyes. My current set up is Off shore boards, pulling with 10#xt, usually a 6 board setup, sometimes 8. I have the OR-18 clip and usually don't hook the back clip up.
My question - for folks who primarily fish bago, and out there you hook a lot of smaller whitebass, sheeps, do you need the tattle flags? In the past I have not really had an issue seeing hits, but I feel 'bago is different with the vast number of small fish.

I feel tattle flags are best for pulling harnesses. There are times when you will see the flag bounce but not stay down. I can not tell you how many times this happens, but if you see the flag bounce, free spool the board for a sec or two. By doing this it cause the harness free fall and many times when you relock the spool and the lines tighten, you are hooked up.
Also for smaller fish, they are nice. easier to tell when you are hooked up. Little tip... You can buy the wire at a sporting goods store, and the springs and nylon washers from the hardware store. So you can make your own for about 3-5 dollars a board versus 25 or 30. Hope this helps.
