Spicing up your decoys!
4/20/12 @ 6:24 PM
Today, I bought a Primos Jake mobile from Farm and Barn and thought i would give it whirl when my season rolls around. I got home and opened the box to be very disappointed with the quality of the fan. I began thinking of taking it back but i remembered i had a Jake tail in the garage. With a little effort and time, I put together one of the nicest decoys I have seen for homemade. Not saying it is the best but I love it. I added a real Jake fan and wings and even a real beard. I proceeded to add the fluff feathers to cover the bolts, etc. Has any one else ever done this or thought about it?
Any ideas and feedback would be appreciated and if you have show us the pictures!
I think it will work come May 10th! 2kids out.

About 15 years ago i screwed some wings off a tom to a jake decoy, about 7 yrs now I 've had this "rug" from asst birds, was always a joke with my hunting buddies, until they saw the toms running at her !! slight breeze and the feathers all move...dont always use it but in right situation it's deadly
did it with my b mobile tom. tom fan, jake beard, but no wings. looks pretty good. can be deadly but i think the tom decoy turns some other toms away. not because they dont like it but the dominance thing. had em run up and pound it, had em strut next to it and some will just avoid it.
