20 gauge effective range

Shooting 3 inch no.5 lead shot.Keeping within a good shot pattern what is the maximum effective killing range on a turkey.

i Shoot a browning gold 20 gauge, with a comp-n-choke XX Full choke and No.5 federal turkey loads and have killed one at 51yds and one at 53yds. Choke is a little pricey but you get what you pay for i guess--shed

Got a Mossberg model 500 (I think) youth 20ga. and an Undertaker choke and shoot Winchester 3" no.5's and have had the kids shoot several birds over 30 yds. Longest was 37. Don't know if I would go much beyond that though. TS2

Depending on the pattern with the gun you have, I'd say 40 yards is the max, but I'd be very comfortable out to 35.
