Has anyone tried "Vertical Casting" for Lake Trout on the big pond? Read an article on it a couple of years ago. In the article they used a big 2 or 3 ounce spoon and let it drop to the bottom and then reeled it up as fast as possible. Suppose to trigger the strike reflex.

I haven't done it, but I know a guy who does that at a large lake in Canada to catch Lake Trout. He said that it is a very successful method.

Horseman,

CHeck out high speed japanese style vertical jigging such as with the butterfly jigs.  I successfully tried that more than ten years ago and it works well when you're on fish.  Make sure to use a long enough shock peader so that you know when to stop jigging so that you don't launch the jig into yourself.
