I get a lot of messages from people wanting to know what my "must have" lures are when trout fishing.

When I'm fishing and space is important, especially when I'm out in my NuCanoe on the LaCrosse River,

My "must haves" are: 1/8 PK spoon, 3/8 Pk spoon, 1/4 Flutter Fish, 3/8 Flutter Fish (all in a broken pattern); #1 Ridgeline Crank, #3 Ridgeline Crank, #4 Panther Martin: yellow with the red dots, black with the red dots, in both the gold and silver blade, and #4 or #6 Murutu Hook and splitshot sinkers.

Hey Fishfinder... question: I've tried to use hair jigs for trout around here (brookies mostly) but can't seem to get the hook set on them. Do you use a stinger? The fish grab the hook but it seems that they just either grab the hair or grab the jig sideways. I've always been interested in hair jigs for bait.

If im spinning I carry martins in black and gold, brown trout pattern, and mepps with gold or silver blades. Fly fishing I carry grasshoppers, ants, mayfly, and bees. I love getting them on the surface Big Smile

I carry only one thing in my tackle box....dynamite. Chinese manufactured dynamite. They only light with lighters with "Made in Taiwan" on the side...and when they get older, you gotta be careful when cutting them up with the chinese cleavers.... Just kidding! I normally just carry jigs, but per influence by fishfinder, I'm gonna start trying some articulated jigs to see if they're a viable option this season.
