Pike Fishing
pike spawning

just wondering where people are seeing the pike spawn or if they are already catching spawned out pike. I've been watching a ditch in suamico, brown county for the last two weeks and yesterday was the first day I started seeing fish over a foot long. saw about 10 that were 10-20, 6 that were 22-28, 4 that were 29-35 and one big old female that had scars all over its body that had to of been right around 40. also saw a little tiger muskie that was swimming around with them. think I will go back today with the camera and take some pics.

They usually spawn in shallow bays that boats cant get into. We saw 6 muskie by our boat, while fishing for bass on the opener in Wisconsin. 3 of them were about 40. Then 2 HUGE muskies side by side, 50+ inches start swimming right past. I got this zara spook on, and I know it was real stupid, I started tring to catch them. I didn't catch them, and if I did, I would have broken the law :/
It's a tough call. Some people in the southern half will say the pike start to spawn in mid-February. I tend to think it's late March early April and they are just wrapping things up and getting ready to bite. But, truthfully, I don't know. I don't think there is a lot of knowledge and research on this topic right now. We have a lot to learn. I have yet to find someone who really has concrete sure fire evidence on this subject.
