Trolling for Big Pike

Just wondering what kind of tackle any one has had success with trolling for big trophy pike?..also what depths of water?...and what types of structures you may have had luck with?

Most big pike this time of the year will be holding around the thermocline. Unless you're planning on keeping every one you catch, now is probably not the best time to troll for them. The stress of being pulled up from deep cold water into bathtub surface water results in a high level of post release mortality. With that said, if the water drops back into the mid 70's you might be OK. Even then though, I would try to do all the unhooking while the fish is still in the water and then hold it up for a quick pic (if you want to release it). As for baits I'm sure they'd take anything "pikey" provided you can get it to the right depth.
