Musky Fishing
Most Versatile Musky Rod Setup

Hi All - I am fairly new to Musky fishing. This is my fourth year. But, it is the first year where I will actually get to fish for them outside of my 1 week vacation in the Fall. I currently have 2 - 7 ft med heavy rods, both with Abu Garcia's on them (a Record, and one of the cheaper silver ones). I use one for casting and one for a sucker rig. I would like to buy one more Rod. Something a little bit longer, and that can be used for multiple presentations. Any suggestions for what my 3rd Rod should be?

Thanks guys! I went with the 8'0 Heavy St. Croix Musky Mojo. I just couldnt see spending over 300 on a G-Loomis or a St. Croix Tournament. 1 Cast Away, you read my mind. I was already thinking about putting the record on it. I have an extra reel that was my backup before. It's an abu bcx 6600. For now, it's going one one of the 7 footers until I can upgrade at some point.
I would get an 8' or 8'6'' also. They are great for bucktails. I would put your record on it and get an abu c4 (high speed) and put it on one of your 7' for jerk baits. That way your not slapping the water when you use them and the extra line pickup will help keep the slack out of your line.
Those are my ideas.
