Who reads Lake Link from MN? Sunfish conservation.

Am I the only one? Granted a buddy of mine from Wisconsin turned me on to Lake Link but I've told a lot of other guys and still not much MN info. The 'fishing reports' threads relating to MN lakes are over a year and a half ago already for cryin out loud. I don't fish all that much but I try to keep informed so that I can be as effective as possible when I am able to go. I know, its about 'puttin your time in on the water' and 'payin yer dues' but this is ridiculous. Dad and I kept about thirty good hand size sunnies May 21rst in southern MN. Thinking they were males making beds before spawn, as the locals had said the females hadn't moved in yet, we kept the bigger ones letting over half go. Water temp was 58. Sunnies usually don't don't start to spawn 'til the water is 60 or over, right? Anyway we goofed. When we cleaned 'em (they were all hard bellied yet too) they had spawn in them but it was still real hard yet. Didn't go back for more though. Will wait 'til after the spawn. We saw a couple of pontoons full of about six to eight people each catching sunnies and small crappies just as we were. They'd leave for a little while and come back and start over. We weren't counting their fish but wondered if they were limiting out and returning for more. They seemed to be atracting more than just our attention too. Nobody close was zingin 'em one after the other except those pontoons. Usually pontoons aren't trailered far so I'm guessing they were locals taking advantage of the resource. And we wonder why fish are stunted.

Wow! Another person? Well, I ended up finding a copy from last year and I knew the limits hadn't changed, but thanks for looking. With the state shutdown the mndnr kind of did a little "in-your-face" with closing down their website, they say they couldn't maintain and there was no way to prevent hacking. They toyed with the idea of at least leaving up basic information and links, but simply decided not to.
We can't all be posing as wisconsinites can we?
Anyone have any good shore fishin lakes in the NE metro? I think my friends parents are getting sick of me using their dock all the time. Then again I just bought MY dock from them so they can't say toooo much ;)
I found a nice little spot on Bald Eagle that is good for an hour or two of panfishing... not too much more though. Every so often i run down to sucker creek/lake but fishing there is dismal at best, unless you have the worlds smallest hook. As far as the WBL pier fishing is concerned... yeah. No thanks. I can catch weeds like that on Showtime... no need to head to WBL.
Greetings and Salutations;
I am "now" a Minnesotan. Just started my MN fishing career. This time last year if you had told me that I would enjoy standing on a block of Ice watching the bobber in the small hole that I drilled into the ice, I would have laughed till my sides ached, after all the only true fishing was on a stream in the mountains of Oregon. Well life moves on and I have been caught by the lure of Ice Fishing, hook, line and sinker. With the help of a new found fellow fisherman friend, I have learned a lot of the technicality's to getting a limit of Crappie's just about every time we go out.
I fish primarily in Aitkin County, you know the county with all them Indian names that I can never remember. Looking forward to Spring to use my "new" used boat that I could not resist buying.
May your fishing sack always be full
