I really suggest the North West Angle on Lake of the Woods. My highschool friend has spent his summers up there guiding and sends me some great photos all the time! This one is from last year! It's a VERY remote area and there are a few different great resorts to pick from.
I grew up on one of the best Musky lakes in MN. It was amazing some of the fish we'd see swimming around.
I lived on Moose Lake near Deer River. However if you look in the Deer River area there is Leech Lake, Deer Lake, Moose Lake and Mississippi River. All known for big Muskies. Mille Lacs is another lake known for big Muskies. There are many other options but those are the five options I'd consider.
If you stay at Breezy Portage Resort it is actually on Deer Lake but it's about 20' (literally) from Moose Lake as well. That could be a great option. I've never stayed there myself so I don't know much about it other than it's location.
