Illinois Fishing Discussion
motor restriction
5/15/13 @ 10:14 PM
Hello. I am new to the larger motor crowd and live in the Peoria area. I have found Clinton Lake to be the closest lake for a 60 hp in the southern region. One thing I am realizing is I need a northern lake to open the options when rain is threatening south of Peoria. Is there a website or way to narrow lakes down to what motor restrictions are on each lake? Thanks for any suggestions you provide.

Go to the IDNR website, fishing, places to fish. You'll get a state map with regions. Click on a region and you get a map showing lakes by name and location. Click a name and you get info for that lake. You might need to click again for details on restrictions, if any. What you won't find though is any fish in Illinois. The governor has sold them all to make $ for lawyers to fight concealed carry...
As for a web site, there is none I know of that will list all lake restrictions. I to am from Peoria and run a large motor. Here are just a few I can tell you of that are within a two hour drive.
Springfield Lake - No H.P. Limit only 35 MPH speed limit.
Panther Creek (Prairie Lake) - No HP Limit (no wake only).
Dawson Lake - No HP Limit (no wake only).
Lake Jacksonville - No Restrictions
Mississippi River (Pools 13-1
- No Restrictions
Good Luck
