How are the new inline rod doing? pros? cons? Do you like the fly reel? I couldn't get my hands on any. Looked from Eau Claire all the way up to Duluth..... Everyone was sold out.... Thanks Soft and Hard H2O

i use my set up for sight fishing or anything shallower then 15' with a vex. it is tedious to pull the line out by hand and set the drag (my reel has one) to nothing so it's a bit easier. as far as the frabill's, not too sure but im sure its the same concept.

how do you get the line off of the frabill real? don't know much about fly reals, couldn't find a free spool so it looked like one would just pull against the drag? seems slow for water over 10' deep.

looks like it has a small arbor then. for the price that can't be beat, but that's a lot of backing to put on it. i think i'll stick to the okumas. currently at $42 shipped from amazon and they have a large arbor. according to their website, it's about 9 inches per turn on the 4/5 size. i'm thinking i'm going with one of those and one of the 2/3s. thanks.

Mine is the Pflueger Medalist 1492 1/2. I ended up picking it up in the bargin cave at Cabelas for like $25 last fall. Only problem is it took forever to fill the spool to back it lol I ended up only backing it halfway because it was such a tedious task.

what kind of fly reel is that bnkrnr? i need to buy some to add to my custom rods and have been looking at the okumas slvs. they have the 4/5s on amazon for around $50.

thorne bros had some in stock when i was there last weekend. they felt fine in my hand. i would have bought one except it was a 32" rod and not the action i was looking for. seems the reel can be switched from left to right with some modifications that you can find on google. you could always call the store and ask if they have any left. they'll ship to you from their store stock.

They're a little pricey but i picked one up. imo the 24 in ul rod is much too stiff so i moved the reel to a different rod. all in all the reel is amazing. i'll definately be getting another for next season

dont own one but ive looked at them and imo for the price, the quality lacks. i recommend making your own out of a cheap fly reel and rod. here's a look at mine. whole set up cost about $50 (the price for the frabill) and if you dont like the "click" the fly reels makes when you're reeling in, its pretty easy to disable.
