What are some things you find true. Might not be "by the book", but you've learned some things out on the ice and you're willing to share.

Would love to be out there today. Seems like when I'm out there before a snow, the ice fishing is very good.

One thing to note: Don't just look at the high temperature and think the ice is shot. I've noticed that is common among many people who see a high of 40, and think the ice is going to be unsafe. Sometimes, that same day might have a low of 19 and it's actually below 32 degrees 18 out of 24 possible hours. Or, a 40 degree cloudy day...doesn't seem to have that bad of an effect.

Most days you will have one tip up produce the majority of the fish. The average person won't check ice depth but just drive their ate out on the lake and hope for the best. You won't catch any fish in a tavern but you may get to eat some.

SS- I speak fluent sarcasm. No worries. But I will have to check out one of these "taverns" you speak of.

Nope, not starting a fight or jabbing anyone, just playing off the last joke! Smile Ok, to stay on topic, here's a truth. Catch catch fish sitting at home on the couch!

Yeah, and I heard that most towns in WI have something called a "tavern" (guess people go there and just sit there and drink?) and on Friday's, these "taverns" actually cook the fish for you so all you have to do is show up and eat it. How neat is that??

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard you can just go out and BUY fish to eat.

LMAO @ slushy! Battle Royale at the Ripon millpond?? Evil Grin To me, just sounds like flasher envy. Try doing something like going up to the bay for whitefish, or fishing a big body of water for roaming schools of bass and eyes. Do that without a flasher and see how many times you come home with your tail between your legs before you start to understand the value of electronics.

Here's one that I don't think is true and I heard it most years starting around Mid February. The pike are getting ready to spawn. I guess everything I've read would suggest that isn't the case. Pike are just fat right now, but not about to spawn. That comes in late March/early April. I could be wrong...but it just doesn't seem likely based on the research.

Crappie--That's more believable,as for another truth I never walk out of the baitshop without a handful of ice jigs only to put them in the tacklebox next to the exact same ones I purchased the last time I was at the baitshop !! Tounge Out...the cycle continues.

That don't sound anything like your last post. It's your story you can tell it how you want I guess.
