I have two GSG 1911's. They are similar in weight when loaded to a regular 1911. I have had them for a couple years. They both have over 5,000 rounds through them. Only issue was a broken barrel bushing. Called the company and they got one right out to me, no questions asked, no charge.
Each pistol took 10-20 rounds to "break in".
I have recommended them to several friends.
Good luck.
While I haven't shot either pistol, I've handled dozens of each, and both are nice enough. 22 pistols, IMO. One of the guys I work with has the GSG (Sig version), and he's very happy with his. Availability of the M&P-22 may be a bit more limited, but they're definitely out there, I've sold a couple within the past week.
Ask yourself what exactly you're looking tor in a .22, do you like the 1911-style form factor & grip, or might the feel/grip of the M&P-22 more closely match an existing centerfire pistol you own? If accuracy is your foremost concern, you could also consider a bull-barreled Mark III or Buckmark, too.
