Directional Downrigger balls
5/17/12 @ 10:21 PM
Does anyone use directional downrigger balls? If so, do they work? I just went from 2 to 4 downriggers this years and the lines seem awfully close at times...Any other tips on keeping them apart? All 4 downriggers are 4' and the end two are run at 90 degrees and the inside two are straight back....
Thanks,
Ace

A lot of guys (probably most) run a set up just like you with 4 riggers without any problems. I've playes with the directional balls and would strongly advise against them. When you get a current below like you do most of the time on Lake Michigan you want all your balls reacting the same and the directional ones behave differently. I think it will actually cause tangles rather than prevent them.
