Directional Downrigger balls

Does anyone use directional downrigger balls? If so, do they work? I just went from 2 to 4 downriggers this years and the lines seem awfully close at times...Any other tips on keeping them apart? All 4 downriggers are 4' and the end two are run at 90 degrees and the inside two are straight back.... Thanks, Ace

Thanks for your input. We really haven't had any problems yet, but the lines from the rods don't always seem to go straight back and they can get in the way at times....just thought there would be a way to make it a little better... Ace

I have to agree with Ditto. I tried "steering" downrigger weights and had more trouble than it's worth. I run the same downrigger set-up as you do and have had very few problems.

A lot of guys (probably most) run a set up just like you with 4 riggers without any problems. I've playes with the directional balls and would strongly advise against them. When you get a current below like you do most of the time on Lake Michigan you want all your balls reacting the same and the directional ones behave differently. I think it will actually cause tangles rather than prevent them.
