I just installed a mercury 7.5 hp on the back of my boat to save on gas, 1 problem I am having is with the kicker being on the left side of the boat it wants to push my boat sideways so to counter that I have to steer the motor to the right all the time in order to go straight, I was wondering if there is any way to make it go straight without having to steer right all the time, any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Steer it straight and lock in place, use main motor for steering. You will loose ability to control boat some but will work. I had same problem. If need a quick turn I just fire up the main motor. Connecting both together didn't work on my boat may on yours.

Heres an idea... Try putting your big motor into gear. This will cause some additional drag. Just make sure the main motor does not turn while trying this, you wont want to run it "dry".

You could try a trolling bag attached amid ship on the same side as the kicker. If you shorten the rod between the main and kicker too much, you won't have full range of motion on the big motor. Is the big motor trimmed down while trolling? This will help some.

They are lined up already and are connected by a steering arm, I talked to guy at work and told me since the rear of the boat is going right, pull the big motor to the left and shorten the steering rod so your big motor actually acts as a rudder to counter the little motor! If anyone has anything else to try please post

you need to have the big motor and small motor run together attach the two together and steer using the big motor control or steering wheel
