It only takes a few minutes to vote. You don't have to sit through the whole meeting, at least not in the ones I go to. Started with 50 people or so, most did their ballot and left within 20 min.
Its a few minutes of your day that can affect your hunting and fishing for years.
Dont worry guys, I will keep Milwaukee county headed the right way!
As far as voting closer to home? You can vote on all the topics in any county, you just need to be in your home county to vote for delegates. Milwaukee sees many from Waukesha.
I hope they never got to a customer number online deal. Customer nunbers cost nothing and anyone can get one. Its not hard to spare and hour or two once a year and make your presence known.
The coyote question pertained to coyote hunting north of 64 during the deer gun season. It was still closed due to wolves. Some intersting results: Portable stands left overnight on DNR land is shot down. Crossbows shot down again. Trolling shot down. Youths during the youth hunt still need to be mentored (which I fully agree with), non-res license fees will very likely be going up. The voice of Wisconsin sportsmen and women has been heard.
Am I missing something or did anyone else find the last advisory question weird? It talked about opening coyote season year round statewide....which is already in affect...(according to the attending warden)
When that was brought up, everyone at the brain table looked at each other and mumbled something and shrugged their shoulders.
I went last night for the first time. I prepared my self by researching the questions on the DNR website. I really did not know what to expect. I figured it was going to be political and beaucratic. It was not. After the meeting finished, I decided I would never miss another. We complain how sportsman don't have enough say to what happens. This opens an avenue that didn't exist 20 years ago. There was a nice cross section of sportsman too. But many attending were seasoned participants. Any questions were answered. And if you had a point to make it was short and to the point. Actually one member actually presented a point of view on trolling that overturned what I was going to vote. The head presenters were straight forward, timely and knowledgeable.. Well worth your time because it does make difference.
To those of you that don't go and vote because you had a passion for something and it didn't happen so why waste your time. Do you still vote for politicians? I can't believe your candidate has won every race and that everything you support has passed. If you don't vote, you have no right to complain. You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem.
Go vote and take a kid with you!
Igor, I guess you can say the lady that won, Barb Eisenberg, is green party. She was on the board for a 3 year term earlier and readily admits to being a Peta member. She is into the Kayak, bird watching thing, but to her credit she does listen to other points of view without yelling. She had 2 resolutions enter up for vote. Do away with open pit mining, and NO wolf hunting. As others noted you cant vote if you're not there, but it is frustrating to know that alot of our votes, especially on local issues, dont mean a thing.
