I'm a tech ed teacher in Bloomer and each year we build garden sheds and sell them for material cost. This year we built three 8x10's and one 10x12 with vinyl siding and windows. That one cost $1900. You may want to call some area schools and talk to the tech ed teachers. Good learning experience for the kids.
I live in Pewaukee and am looking at purchasing a larger shed. One that can fit all of my yard machines, but would also be big enough to fit a car if needed. It would need to have a garage door on the front.
I'd prefer it to be built and delivered to me, but I would consider putting it together myself as well.
I've not been able to find much on the internet and I know I've seen them around.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am looking at an Amish built shed. They are built very well and look great. I have a local builder here in Tomah that builds them to your specs and then delivers them. For a 10 x 12 Amish shed it is costing me around $1900 delivered. He will customize it any way I want it. This is my only option because of my lot layout. I just needed a nice looking shed to put my lawn equipment into. If you have someone in your area that builds Amish sheds, check em out. Stay away from the ones at Menards, Home depot ect. Home Depot subs their products out and are about $1000 more for a lesser quality product.
Decide how big you want it and how much you can spend. Draw up the plans and present it to your County AND local township for Planning/zoning approval/permits.
Concrete slab foundation would be best but building on Grade is sufficient. Wood stick builds offer the best IMO, Barn style structures offer the best option for more above storage (loft). Actual Shed contractors have it down to a science for building affordable sheds. A few advertise on Craigslist. Home builders will build you an even better shed but costs will run higher. If you feel a little adventurous and have the time, tackle it yourself. Lots of building/material plans online and at local DIY stores. As others mentioned, Think bigger, space fills fast.
I'm pretty fresh on the subject...meaning, i had high hopes for building another accessory bulding but the township shot me down for having an existing shed on the property (less than 3 acres) and Sq.ft. allowances for accesory buildings. Resin/Poly/Vinyl sheds have pretty loose restrictions if you have any issues obtaining permits. Very important to check ahead on County/township alolwances. Good luck!
