i have no idea what he's hunting for. we get pics of him year round and always with his shotgun in hand. even when nothings in season but coyote. our land is clearly marked. he's not wandering in by accident. even if that were the case you would think that seeing the permanent treestands would tip him off. he's there way too much to be on accident.
I read about tiger traps in the old days where they would dig a deep hole, and cover it with something that would not hold the tiger's weight, and cover that with dirt and leaves.
Maybe try that and put a note in the bottom that says "No more carefree days sipping rail whiskey at the VFW for you pops!".
Eagle is a small town. People know each other. I would bet you could go down to the bait shop in Palmyra and ask if the guy behind the counter has seen him.
Is your land clearly posted? I'm not taking the trespasser's side here, but there is a pretty large amount of public land near Eagle. I went to UW-Whitewater and we used to pheasant hunt near Palmyra-Eagle all the time. Maybe he is just mistakenly thinking he is still on the public land. That certainly doesn't make it right, but a few signs can't hurt.
I would try to figure out where he's been accessing the property from and place a game cam there. That way you might get a license plate or vehicle description.
Another option would be to get one of those game cams that is cellular enabled. That way the next time it snaps a pic, you can be notified in real time. Then, you can call the police and tell them you know he's there and meet them out there.
Sorry you have to deal with this. People suck. I would NEVER use land for hunting that I wasn't 100% sure I had access to.
The good thing is that your pics are not just on weekends but weekdays too. That makes me think he is a local. I agree with printing off the picture and asking around. He has to live near by. I doubt he's driving a long distance to hunt private property. If you get the name, call the Sheriff Dept. They may not get to it right away but if you have the evidence they should eventually get to it.
