Gander sucks. It is full of wantabee sportsmen who buy overpriced crap just to say Look at me..... Bass pro is the way to go. Heck, I will go to Wal Mart before I go to Gander.

After my experience at Gander Mt. the past 2weeks I will think twice about shopping there!I went looking for a Henry Rifle they advertized,NO STOCK!! sales person showed me a Browning, had made in China stamped on it,I said No thanks,he said Henrys are Made there also,MADE IN AMERICA OR NOT AT ALL MUST NOT MEAN ANYTHING to him. Also they did not have ANY of the AMMO that was advertized on sale in stock!!!Turns out Cabelas and Mills Fleet Farm both had the Rifle in Stock, and $50 cheaper than Ganders Sale price.Ammo was in short supply at all Loc.but I did pick up some of what I needed at Fleet Farm,But neither Cabelas or fleet farm put out a flyer advertizing some thing they did not have!!!!

Love the store that has the best deal! No preference. I am glad we have options...I would add Scheel's and FF to the debate. Heck our local ACE Hardware has a great gun department and I have bought guns and ammo from them too.

Not happy with Gander. They sent out a 5th annual shooting and firearms sale brochure starting February 5 and almost immediately all on-line firearms are sold out. They stated while supply lasts but they must not have had much of anything from the start. The same situation with all handgun ammo.

I must admit, I had the best experience in a Gander Mountain last Wednesday that I've ever had in my entire time going there. I was looking for an Otter fishing shack and after calling 5 of the dealers that carried them, only the Gander Mountain in Eau Claire had the one I was looking for. My hat is off to the men and women working on the 6th at 7 pm in Eau Claire. Especially the guy that helped me load it in my truck. I could truly tell he enjoys his job and goes out of his way to take care of the customers. With folks like that working there, now I will return in the future. Thanks again for getting me the awesome deal of 150.00 dollars off list price as well and good luck fishing.

I was wrong: I indicated that Bass Pro was building a new facility in Meno Falls off Hwy 41. I stopped in at the village hall to find out what it is they are building. On the West side will be apartments and on the West side it will be Ryan medical center for one day surgery's. So no Bass Pro going their.

both are at times [most> drastically overpriced on some items. Cabelas seem to have more selection. I try and buy as much as i can thru mills fleet/farm. they are still 'family owned'. and help support area causes. but for gun s and ammo, midwest shooters, lomira, wi and 'ma and pop' type stores that are locally owned as much as i can. between gan. and cabel. i choose cabel's. tja

SASSY1 - I have to agree with you. The Bass Pro Shop in Vegas is really nice. That is one huge store and the second floor is amazing.

sat in line at cabelas to get a pair of boots on sale the other day only for the store to close when I was the second person in line from getting checked out. What really ticked me off was the door greeters standing by the door for no reason, there was maybe two people that walked in the store while i was in line. Why couldn't they pull one of them and get them on a register to help out the two people working up front. I drove two hours for squat but they told me if I come back tom. we'll give you the boots for the same price because they would no longer be on sale. What a load of crap. I kept quit but there were a few other guys and one lady that were not happy and let them know it too. Looks like I'll be driving to Sheels when I don't feel like going to Gander or Fleet.
