Which ATV Disk is better
2/23/12 @ 2:04 PM
Just a quick question:
I will be putting in several food plots again this year and I have the rest of the equipment, but will be purchasing a disk this spring. Since the price is always a factor, I am looking at 2 models; one is the flip-over disk with wheels....one gang of 16 inch notched disks. The other model is the one with 2 gangs of 16 inch notched disks with a crank to raise and lower the wheels. This unit is very narrower. I know weights will probably have to be added to either style. What I am really looking for is which one you guys are using and which one does the best job for the money. I could purchase either model since the price is close. I know the narrow model will be easier to store. Thanks

At our deer camp, we have one of each. Both of ours are the King Kutter brand. Based on our experience, I would recommend the flip over style. For us it seemed to work much better right out of the box without having to add weights. The one downfall we did have is that the detachable tongue for the flip over busted welds on the 90 degree elbow. We did have to add some stock inside the tubing to firm it up and reweld. Other than that, works fine. The compact crank down model is probably more solid mechanically, but doesn't work quite as nice.
