I didn't think you had to worry about bend or breaking the troll a matic? Doesn't it go up as you accelerate and move out of the way on it's own. I know you don't have to use a cable to lift it like some of the others. I was going to run down to cabbalas on Sunday, so if anyone could tell me anything I need to worrly about please let me know. Thanks.
you might want to think about a drift sock. you can deploy it out the back ( for going forward) or the front (for back trolling) of the boat to slow your trolling speed down and then you can also use for drift control. Just something else to think about before spending money. Now you have a piece of equipment that has dual purpose
I use the troll-a-matic with my 115 hp 4-stroke Suzuki. It works very good. I can run at speeds below 1 mph. The only issue with my motor is trying to keep a constant speed between 1.8 - 2.2. To really dial in a set speed takes a little playing around with my throttle but were talking seconds not minutes. Sure is nice that I do not have to play around with pulling up or putting down the plate.
