Hooks

Just wondering what the different hooks are for. I'm new to cat fishing and need some tips.

I've been using Gamakatsu Octopus circle hooks for ten years+ and very rarely lose a fish. I use the 1/0 size for catfish/carp and size 8 or ten for small fish. I don't have access to any big catfish over 25# really, so I don't use the mongo hooks for flatheads and don't know how the Gama's would work. I've only had one hook break on me.

The best hooks for cats are Mustad Demon Circle hooks. 9/0 or 10/0 will work. Use cut bait stay away from stink bait. Fresh shad is the best. I have used stink bait hundreds of times more often than not they will be smaller. if you want 10lbers and up use the shad. When they hit they will set the hook in themselves all you got to do is pick up the pole lean back with it and the fish iis yours. dont jerk the pole back.
