6 of us are going on a fly-in trip June 9 with Chimo Lodge. Planned on bringing Crawlers and leeches in with us. Do we need them? How many? Are there any issues crossing border with Live bait? I'm also bringing plenty of Gulp and twister tails. Thanks for the help.

Ditto on the salted minnows - we do well with those on fly ins. Leeches are gooe to have if you like slip bobbering. Gulp work, but generic twister/grub tails work just as well for me. Live minnows die very easilly and by day two or three you will be out of them.

No leeches crossing the border, this may cause an issue..... when I was up last week I was using the Northland Impulse 3" Smelt minnow and they performed quite well. :-)Really well and they can take a beating with the fish chewing on them. Frozen Salted minnows work great as well. Guessing you will be jigging most of the time as we do so crawlers will probably not be needed.

Salted minnows require very little care. Crawlers in newspaper bedding (no soil) work well. But, like Ditto said, artificials work just as well. Gulp, plastics, etc are all I ever use and I get just as many as the bait fishermen.

If you're going to a fly in and you need to bring live bait you're going to the wrong place! You should be able to catch more fish on artificials than live bait on any remote lake.
