New season of Deadliest Catch coming on Discovery Channel on March 28th. Anybody young and crazy enough out there to try something like that?

I spent a lot of time in Newport as a kid (my mom grew up there) and have been over the bar a few times on charters. Conditions were nothing like those described in the articles below but one time there were some pretty large swells. The captain had to line up and catch a wave. It was sort of like surfing.

That's commitment to a job. How does a vessel like that capsize in 14' waves with a Coast Guard escort?

One thing remains the same. Sig is catching crab in bunches.

Agree with you guys that the show has become a little too theatrical. I still enjoy the actual fishing and love watching the Coast Guard in action. Still a good show even if it is a little bloated with drama.

Sad to hear if that's the case.  I watched that show religiously until last season when we cut the cable cord and began streaming the cable channels through Sling.  They didn't carry Discovery at the time and not sure if they do now.

I got to see the Cornelia Marie and the Saga in the marina in Kodiak Harbor when I was there in 2012.  My aunt who is one of the owners of the Rogue Brewery in Oregon even sent me one of the first bottles of Sig Hansen's Northwestern Ale because she knew how big of a fan I was.

Did Discovery continue on with a second season of Dungeon Cove?  That was mainly shot around Yaquina Bay in Newport Oregon where my aunt's brewery is.

Been one of my favorite shows since the beginning.  Unfortunately it used to be 80% documentary, 20% reality t.v.  Now those numbers have reversed and I'm jumping off the ship.  It was a great show unscripted.  Now you have fisherman trying to be dramatic actors.  Yuck and shame on Discovery Channel.

Have a great day.

My Friend Kelly Galloup (Slide Inn, Montana) ties Streamers with the names: Sex Dungeons.  Butt Monkeys.  Stacked Blondes.  Barely Legals

Those might work...

Hey Dave for my money I would of liked to see some raw and risque videos instead of someone tying some sort of "horse feathers" to a hook. LOL!!
