My dad, buddy, and myself drew our first Antelope tags ever (It will be our first hunt out of the state of Wisconsin). We drew Unit 22 which is east of Buffalo, wy and south of I-90. Not one of the more popular areas but I worked out there in 2007 so I have a few ideas of where the goats might be.

I was just looking for any general advice anyone would like to give on hunting in Wyoming or for Antelope. Any camo patterns that work better out in that sage country? I have seen a few sage camo patterns but they seems to be a little dark to me.

Lots of homework to do before Oct. 1st rolls around but I am very excied for it!!!

Day 1.... tagged out at 10:24am on a double up... Tons of luck and a little skill. They pretty much ran right into our laps... 40 yard shots max

Cant wait! I leave in 4 days for Caper. If my wife and I tag out early we will be heading to Cody for a few days of mule deer hunting. I can barely walk through the living room with all our hunting stuff laid out! I live for WY hunting...

My Dad and I went and hunted out of Kaycee, Wy for the first week of the season and had some good luck. I guess hunting traditionally still works. Had a blast out there

Checked the website today and found everyone in our group was successful. Should be a good year. Good luck to anyone who heads out that way.

Well I hunted 22 last year that has even less public land and our group of 3 had 3 bucks and a doe in the cooler by 1:30pm on opening day. Just have to get a few areas scouted out and be the first one out there in the morning. Its only my second year doing it but I think if we work hard enough we can get a couple good ones off the public land. We might try to get on some private land if we get a chance. Price would have to be prety cheap though. Any ideas how the pressure will be with opening day starting on a Monday this year? It was a satruday last year and was pretty busy.

saronafish, unit 23 is primarily a private land unit, the public land is minimal and by seasons opening the local guides, outfitters and ranchers have pushed the goats onto there land for "safe " keeping ...ka-ching....it's big business, the unit is chock full of antelope, with the chance at a 14 in. high, for a pounded area that's actually good.Find the local warden and field biologist, and ask him for suggestions, he(they)will usually have a list of ranchers that are easier on the wallet. It's a high profile area, you'll have a great hunt, I'd suggest not even thinking public land....IMO...p.s. I have 4 heads from that area all over 15".....it's a blast, on foot !!

Dad and I got our tags for unit 23! Im super pumped to try out a new unit this year. Should be interesting to see how the pressure is since opening day is a Monday this year and not a Saturday like last year. Let the air photo and topo map scouting start!!

Yep, we are going again this year. We hunt unit 21 for goats and region Y for Muley's. All BLM land except for a little chunk of private (about 50 acres) that when the goats are there they are cornered and the two groups easily get about 6-7 goats per year.

Yes. I will be hunting public land. Many units have BLM, state, and national grasslands to hunt on. You can also look at walk in areas or paying a small trespass fee to hunt.

Are you guys hunting BLM/Public lands? I did a guided hunt for goats, and want to do a do-it-yourself family out there. I hunted just outside Newcastle, WY. Good luck Big Mac77
