Sorry these are late . it was a great season for me and not cause of my bucks. The best part is my 10 year old who I believe is hooked. It goes like this Sunday afternoon opening weekend. We go out at half time of packers game hunting in Washington county.we get to our spot and grab a seat we are there for about two hours talking lightly. He says I am getting a little cold and the regular I don't think we are going to see anything. I say this is the best time to be here. I know sooner say that and look over and a nice little buck looking at us at 70 yards. I say there is a buck he says yeah right. OH MY GOD THERE IS!! I whisper I am going to put the gun on your shoulder and you find him and I'll help you steady the gun(brought shooting stick but no time). He looks down as I'm holding fore end of gun to steady. He says I'm on him safety clicks off I hear 1--2--Whispers. Hey dad? What Case? I'm going to shoot at 3 (no kidding). The cadence starts over 1--2--boom down it goes. I say what hapend too 3 I couldn't say it with my tongue on the roof of mouth to steady.(good student). Lets go look Dad can we wait my legs are shaking. 10 minutes later we go claim his prize. Between shaking legs and walking into room at bed time to remind me he shot a buck I think he is hooked.
Not my story but this one is funny...

JAWAGABOYZ,
I haven't been able to get that buck of yours out of my head since the first time I saw it here a couple of weeks ago. Do you have any more pics to share?
I hunt in that general area and, to me, that's the most impressive buck I've ever seen come out of there. That is the buck I would dream about if I was able to dream that big!!!
Congrats again and I would love to see more pics and read the story of how it happened.
Anybody else know anything about that deer on Pg 4?
My friend and I shot this together yesterday on my in laws land. Dan shot him at 4 pm, we followed him for over 300 yards. When we found him, he was laying there like he was dead, instead he jumped up and ran so I shot at him. We backed off for 30 minutes then began looking again, while looking for him I ended up only standing 3 feet away from him while he was standing up swaying back and forth. I picked up and shot at him 2 more times this time hitting him in the chest cavity, he ran about 20 yards and laid down. This time we waited 40 minutes and again, we walked up on him and he still ran! At this point he was losing lots of blood, we followed him another 200 yards and there he was face down in the ground and piled up. My friend was just about to step over him to grab the horns and the deer got up again! Luckily while looking we ran into some very nice neighbors that gave us permission to come back in the morning and follow him. After a sleepless night we found him at 7:45 am. 9 points, would have been 10 if one did not break off. My friend and I consider this a mutual deer, but he put the first shot on him. We determined he shot him in the leg, which was hanging by a thread (which we believe is why he let us get so close to him each time), and my shot in the chest finally put him down. Congrats to him on his biggest buck ever! Waukesha County 77M.
Captain and Mooskie, thank you. I shot him in Bayfield County.
Congrats to everybody else too. Some dandy bucks shot this year! I especially like seeing kids with their first. I really get into that. I've been taking kids for a long time. Remember to really make a BIG deal out of their success...they'll never forget it.
My son passed up a small buck this year after shooting two little ones that past two consecutive years...he's finally understanding what happens when you let the little ones grow.
One more giant to go after New Year's Eve weekend...
Second Saturday found me sitting in some hardwoods on the edge of a cedar swamp. It was a last second decision to go there and find a spot to sit on the ground instead of one of the stands. It was an uneventful night, I hadn't seen a deer all season yet, and this night was no different. Then at 4:30 I hear all this snorting behind me. I stand up and grab the rifle just as a big deer comes running out and stops broadside at 40 yards. On quick look at the head proved to me it was a shooter so I went behind the shoulder and pulled the trigger. The buck hit the ground, spun, and stood up. I put another one in him and he flopped to the ground. The guys I was with did not think it was me shooting because they had never heard someone get off two shots that quick with a bolt action. They swore it was a semi-auto. Deer dropped 30 yards from where we could get a truck so it was a nice drag. When we had him hanging, my brother noticed something on the hindquarters. Upon closer examination, I noticed that there were lines on both sides that were spaced perfectly and the right length for tines. The hair was scraped away right to the skin. I know now that a bigger buck chased this guy to me and that is why he was running. I think that the big boy survived to next year as I have not heard of him being shot!!
Opening weekend my brother shot this little 8 pt. while chasing a doe. Then on Thanksgiving I saw a deer walking in the thick stuff pretty far away from me. When I put the scope up on him, I saw he was a big deer. He was heading right for me so I was just gonna let him keep coming until he got to 75 yards and started to walk away so I dropped him on the spot. Pretty glad my first buck was this pretty nice 10 pt.
shot this guy opening morning, 8:20am. walked out of the pines at about 50 yards, stopped when i clicked off the safety (might have been a little excited!!) and looked right at me. luckily ther were some turkies in the field and he turned broadside to check them out. shot, he ran off with his front right leg flayling around. wait a bit got out of my stand, found hair but not a drop of blood. looked for over an hour with the help of a few others and not a drop of blood was found. gathered everybody else and circled the area to drive it only to have a guy find it laying about 20 yards past where I last looked. he jumped a couple rows of pines and expired.
biggest buck I've seen sitting in the woods. not tall or thick but wide (for our area) at 16.5" inside spread. the more I look at pics the happier I get. we've got a ton of trail cam pics of him as well. must have been bad genetics.
