Wisconsin River Smallmouth

Been out of the country for a month. With the early spring wondering the spawning status of the smallmouth as i'm heading out next week for a couple days around Rapids. Are they hitting pretty good yet? Taking a guy from OK and hope to hit it right, little early based on past but this year who knows?

I have been out Smallie fishing for about 5 weeks, on the Wisconsin River by Wausau,Wi. Water temps have been a roller coaster ride. As of 4-17-12, temps. have been 51 to 54 degrees. I found 55 degree water in a shallow bay on the west shoreline. Fish were more aggressive in this area, i believe some fish were pre staging at this point. I've good success on dead sticking tubes in 6 to 9 ft. of water. Jig-n-pig also has been producing. I have been using dark colors on both lures for best results. I will be sat. 4/21 & sun. 4/22.
