well i was gunna try the muzzy mx4 this year but after taking a few shots tonight im gunna stick with my montecs... montecs im right on every shot.. with the muzzys i damn near missed the target.. no idea why.. and with the montecs blood trail i think its decent. shot a 7 pointer 2 years ago and watched him drop about 50 yards away. but as soon as the arrow hit i could c the blood flowing.. straight thru double lung i followed the blood to the buck very easly..

dude, do you have any issues with the bloodtrail they leave? I use the montecs as well, but man am I dissapointed with the bloodtrails. They do the job though. Regarding blood trails and the G5 Montec. I've shot a handful of deer and a fox with them, and I've seen all of them go down, which to me shows that they are a very effective head. The farthest a deer has gone is about 75 yards, but she happened to go in a direction where I was able to watch her pile up. I went in after dark to retrieve that one, so didn't notice the blood trail. On the others I've shot, I did check out the blood trail even though I saw them go down, and I thought it was more than acceptable. I will continue to use these head's for a couple of reasons: 1. one piece design is rock solid 2. proven very effective 3. I love the preseason tips that allow me to practice year around with broadheads without dulling up my hunting blades and 4. they group well.

I use Bass Pro Shop Blackout copy of the G5 striker and love them fly great and I've had 4 pass threws. Now I've only shot them at Deer under 25 yards, I've practiced with them out to 40 and they still fly great. Have used Sonics in 100gr fly like field tips only down side is 1" cut, seems to be more like 7/8 when put to a tape. Did the job with 2 pass threws just not good blood trail on double lung shot.

I have shot the Shuttle T Loc 100 grain Fixed Blade broadhead for 6 or 7 years now. I have not shot a better fixed blade on my Full Metal Jackets yet. I have several other friends who have taken my recommendation on these over the years and had nothing but great things to say. I literally shave my vanes off at 60 yards when I do final groups before hunting season. This is a deadly broadhead, and one of the most accurate out there. Through shooting competitive archery I have made a lot of good friends in the hunting industry, and from that I get a lot of discounts on products. My broadheads are not and I don't mind, they have yet to let me down in the 6 or 7 years I have taken animals with them. They have my vote and add the FMJ for an arrow, they are long range missiles!

I have used the G5 Montecs for 4 years now and am happy with them. They do seem to fly very similar to my fieldtip arrows during practice and that gives me confidence when lettting one fly at a deer. I have gotten very dependable blood trails - lung hits, not far tracking. Also, they are easy to resharpen and reuse.

Had a friend shoot the talons a few years ago and he hated them. very cheap thin metal blades he had a pass thru on a doe and the head had all the blades broken off.

I shoot the G5 montecs and love them. The main reason I shoot them is the "preseason" tips they sell. Same as the broadhead only not sharp. I shoot those all year for practice instead of field points. It gives me 100% confidence that my broadhead is going where I aim.

"Best" is going to be just the opinion of the shooter. I have shot many fixed blade and have settled on 2. My back-up is the G5 Montec while my number 1 choice is the NAP HellRazor.
