The Scent Vent Box
3/1/12 @ 4:17 PM
This is the product that I posted about a few months ago. Being that it is now patented I thought I would post it up on LL and see what you guys think of it. It is a scent elimination product that uses positive pressure ventilation. Inside the box is a high velocity fan (this fan produces 1/3 the cfm's fire dept PPV fans produce at house fires). The fan produces so much air/pressure inside the box that it actually gets in all the nooks & cranny of the items in the clothing compartment to effectively remove odor from the items place in the box. This is the same process fire departments use for removing smoke & odors from buildings. Previously ozone machines are most efficient method for scent elimination from clothing. In testing, The Scent Vent Box eliminates TWICE as much scent in HALF the time as ozone machines without the health side effects and it also doesn't deteriorate rubber & elastic (as found in bib suspenders & coat/sweatshirt wrists or rubber boots). Most people don't realize this but per the EPA ozone is NOT safe to use for odor elimination and if it is effective at removing odor it is being used at levels above what the EPA states as being safe (there is a specific page on the EPA website stating this and during testing with ozone I actually got a scratchy throat & lighted headed). In testing The Scent Vent Box eliminated 90% of extrememly strong odors (cologne) heavily applied to clothing in less than 4 hours. That odor is significantly stronger than human odor so if it does that with cologne you can only imagine how efficiently it will work on human odor in your hunting clothes. You can also remove odors from items such as binoculars, bows, backpacks, ect. Prior to the Scent Vent Box there was never really an efficient way to rid odor from your hunting equipment and certainly not a way that was this easy. You can also remove scent from your hunting clothes after every hunt without having to wash them everytime. To simply be able to remove your human odor after each and every hunt without dumping them in the washing machine is something I've wanted to be able to do every since I've started hunting!
The Scent Vent Box also eliminates odor from clothing you can't wash. For some reason more & more hunting clothes aren't able to be washed: Scent Blocker's Dream Season Wool liner and their Spider safety Vest are a couple that this applies to. It can also be used for things you simply can't wash: athletic equipment such as - football shoulder pads, football helmets, baseball helmets, catcher's equipment. Pretty much anything that could absorb odor but can't be washed this is where thing excells.
The Scent Vent Box also will dry your boots. In testing I've taken rubber hunting boots, filled them to the top with water, let them soak for 30 mins and attached them to the Scent Vent boot drying system and in less than 2 hours the boots were bone dry.
The Scent Vent Box also drys clothes extremely efficiently. This comes in really handy when you get rained on while hunting and you need to get your clothes dried and get back out to the woods without contaminating with human odor your clothes by putting them in a clothes dryer and running house air over your clothes. This also comes in handy if your on a hunt and everyone is back at the lodge/house and they are also soaked and they are all waiting for their turn to use the dryer. If you have a Scent Vent box your not waiting for anyone.
The Scent Vent Box also takes care of the issue of getting house air all over your clothes from attempting to reactivate the carbon in your hunting clothes. After running them through the dry and reactivating your carbon simply put them in the box and remove the human odor your dryer put on to your clothes.
This product is not out for sale yet just simply patented at this point. Just putting up on good 'ol LL to see what you guys think of it. I'm really curious to what you guys have to say about it.

The 75% odor removal was concluded from surveys we have done in our booths at trade shows. Attendees were able to smell treated an untreated items that were in sealed containers and then had them fill out the % of the difference between the two items. The results were totaled and averaged out.
Full Draw. I applaud you for taking this a running with it and making it successful for you. Great story!
Coming from a Graphic Designer for nearly 25+ years, I am with Rempump..."Change the back ground behind the wording and product descriptions. It seemed very hard to read the white letters that were on top of the grey/metal back background." It physically hurts the eyes and I honestly stopped reading after the first couple lines.
Also as stated previously...how are you able to figure a percentage of odor eliminated? In the post below regarding football and hockey equip you stated it eliminated 75% of odor. How can you figure that?
Like I said, I applaud you and enjoyed following this thread, these are just a few thoughts I had...
Full Draw dealing with some of the I guess you could call them people on here can be interesting. turn on your messenger.

Thanks for bringing that up, Early. Ran Scent Vent head to head with an Ozone machine that was is marketed for odor elimination in hunting clothes. Scent Vent eliminated significantly more odor than the ozone machine did. Wasn't even close. The EPA does say that in order for ozone to be effective at all for odor elimination it has to be run at levels high than the EPA deems safe for humans. Not to mention ozone will ruin elastic & rubber plus cause metal to rust. Tire companys expose their tires to ozone when testing them for dry rotting because ozone cracks the rubber.
I hunt under the mindset that less odor is ALWAYS better, I have yet to encounter a situation in 30+ years of hunting where having more human odor on my body worked to my advantage. Last fall I killed a 160" 5 yr old buck that came in from straight down wind that was looking for doe that come from that direction 5 mins before him. Had I not taken the extra precautions I do to keep my odor in check I have no doubt I wouldn't have killed that buck as the wind was blowing directly from me to him.
I've taken hockey & football equipment after it had been used for an entire season and we all know how bad that stuff stinks. Scent Vent eliminated 75% of the odor in just 4 hours and there was nothing else done to the equipment other than running it through a Scent Vent. Now do I think a Scent Vent will eliminate 100% of your human odor, absolutely not. Now do I think Scent Vent will eliminate a significant amount odor that will help reduce the chances of you getting busted, blown at or alerting deer to the fact that they are being hunted, absolutely. People can try and play the wind all they want but at some point deer will end up downwind. Many times it happens after you've left the woods and are back at home but what most people don't realize any odor you've left in the woods stays around for deer to smell long after your gone. That also applies to the odor you leave behind while your walking to back to your house. The less human odor you carry into the woods is ALWAYS better.
Air exchange system & dehydration. If you go to the website it will explain in more detail how the process works. The air exchange process is the easy part to understand, your using positive pressure ventilation to remove the contaminated air and replace it natural/clean air. The other part is dehydration, and no one in the hunting industry ever discusses how moisture effects odor. Human odor is actually bacteria waste (Poop) and the more moisture any organism's waste has the more odor it is able to put off. Dog waste in your yard is a perfect example of this, when its fresh it stinks alot when its all dried out most of the odor is gone. Think about how hunting dogs hunt better on wet/damp days, thats because the birds are giving off more odor cuz of the moisture. Think about how much more a woods smells after a rain. The worst thing we do is spray scent killing spray before we hit the woods, it rehydrates all that bacteria waste. Even though your hunting clothes may appear perfectly dry, they aren't at the molecular level. Bacteria waste is full of moisture. Go to www.scent-vent.com click on the hunting section on the home page to read more about this process.
Last year Rutting Ridge Outfitters was using Scent Vent's and hunting stands that normally couldn't be hunted unless it was perfectly calm because of swirling winds. Hunters were able to hunt those locations and weren't getting busted. Their kill rate went up over 50% for the archery season for the first time
