Does Anybody on here fletch their own arrows, if so what brand and type do you use? Also looking for an arrow saw. Thanks

Picked up some 2" Bone Collector vanes last week at Fleet Farm. They also recommend Super Glue. Still trying to come up with a way to post that fletching jig I made. Also built a bow, based loosely on an English longbow but with a fancier riser, had to order a special string for it though, 1-2 weeks for delivery. Also thinking of a hip quiver made of pvc pipe... if you get the idea I'm incredibly cheap you're right! LOL. But I've always had a penchant for low-tech solutions to problems. After two wives both drove me into the poorhouse I realized I'd better start imitating Red Green to get stuff done!

Bought the blazer jig and have done just over 1dz. I ended up using Loc Tight superglue to put the blazer vanes on. I tried the easton quick bond, but the ends started to pull up. I contacted easton and was told by a rep that my glue might be old and they have heard blazer vanes are hard to glue. The guy that works for easton even said superglue works better. Will post a photo in the next few days. This is my zen

OKAY, RAN OUT OF ROOM. ABOUT THE DOWEL, YOU WANT IT FULL WIDTH FOR 3 TO 3 AND 1/4 INCHES, THE REST , ABOUT 3/4 INCHES LONG AND 1/8 INCH THICK, FORMS THE SLOT, TONGUE, TENON, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT. TRIED A COUPLE "TIMES TO "draw" IT BUT THE 'PUTER WON'T RELATE TO IT.

I'm photographically challenged but will try to describe it best I can. Base: 1x2, 7 INCHES LONG End 1 1X2 3 INCHES LONG. CUT A 1 INCH V IN THE TOP END. End 2 1x2 3 INCHES LONG. MEASURE DOWN 1 INCH FROM THE TOP END AND MARK THE CENTER. SCRIBE A LINE STRAIGHT UP TO THE END. SCRIBE ANOTHER LINE FROM THE CENTER AT 120 DEGREES AND A THIRD AT 240 DEGREES, SO YOU BASICALLY HAVE AN UPSIDE DOWN Y WITH THE CENTER AN INCH DOWN FROM THE END. AT DEAD CENTER OF THE Y DRILL A 1/2 INCH HOLE. AT THIS POINT GLUE OR NAIL THE ENDS TO THE BASE. NOW COMES THE HARD PART TO DESCRIBE. GET A FOUR INCH DOWEL. SORRY, DIAGRAM FAILED ON POSTING. YOU WANT TO GET A SHAPE SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THE THIN SLOT ON THE END IS EITHER CARVED SAWN OR SANDED ENOUGH TO ACCEPT AN ARROW NOCK, ABOUT 3/4 INCHES LONG. BY MAKING THE WHOLE FOUR INCHES LONG YOU'LL HAVE A COUPLE INCHES STICKING PAST THE END SO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HOLD ON TO AND ROTATE THIS PIECE. OBVIOUSLY, THE THIN SLOT GOES THROUGH THE 1/2 INCH HOLE. WHEN THE ROTATING SHAFT HAS THE THIN SLOT AS HORIZONTAL AS YOU CAN GET IT, SCRIBE A LINE DOWN THE SHAFT, IN LINE WITH THE UPPER LEG LINE OF YOUR UPSIDE DOWN Y. IDEALLY, WHEN THE ARROW NOCK IS ON THE SLOT, THE SHAFT WILL BE IN A STRAIGHT LINE THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE V ON THE OTHER END. NOW, WE NEED SOMETHING TO HOLD THE FLETCH IN PLACE WHILE GLUEING IT TO THE SHAFT. IDEA! HEY, THESE CLIPS LOOK JUST LIKE BAG CLIPS! SO THAT'S WHAT I GOT FROM THE LOCAL DOLLAR STORE. SINCE I WANT CONSISTENCY I USED A MAGIC MARKER TO MAKE A MARK 1 INCH FROM THE END OF THE BAG CLIP TO ALIGN EVERY FLETCH IN THE SAME PLACE. NOW THE DISCLAIMER. WAS GOING TO USE IT TODAY, BUT LAST NIGHT THE PLACE I RETIRED FROM CALLED AND ASKED IF I COULD HELP THEM OUT WITH A 2 HOUR JOB THIS MORNING. WE FINISHED 10 HOURS LATER!

Looking at getting a jig and was looking at the Bohning blazer jig. From what I have been reading some say it is worth getting a blazer jig and others say it is not worth the money. What are your thoughts, before I buy one. Just ordered 100 blazers on ebay and I am getting the itch.

Oddly enough... finally pulled my head out of, well, you know, and visited the archery shop here in town yesterday, found out the arrows I had were 3 inches too long. Sooo, the first step was shortening them, from the nock end. I tried a hack saw, bad, a coping saw, even worse, and then tried my old pipe cutter, did a terrific job, nice clean cut and no splitting graphite. Pricing a fletching jig at $35 I figured I'd nake one, 3 pieces of scrap wood,a half inch dowel, a bag clip from Dollar Tree and its set for its trial run. As for glue, they recommend superglue gel, also from the Dollar Tree, so for $3 I now have a fletching jig.

I made a DIY arrow saw. Found the specs on AT. For arrows, blazers with helix jig and loctite adhesive. I paint the back 4.5" of the arrow for a "wrap" with a rattle can. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qkPyAbiY0aM/TxOYGHMHElI/AAAAAAAAHgI/t9FblOez0Bc/s640/IMG_1557.JPG
