Any one ever shoot a broken rack? Or a strange set ? I took this deer down on sunday Christmas Day in the last half hour, it had 3 on one side and a worn down nub on the other? It was a fairly big bodied buck with mature attributes and worn molars......but tiny little antlers could it be genetics, prior injury, possibly got locked up and snapped it while sparring?   What are your thoughts?

Has anyone seen a simular scenario? Here is a pic of the antler and the worn down nub.

Here are a couple. The archery buck I got this past November on public land in southern IL. He had 3 tines broken off. I arrowed him right after he destroyed a tree within visual distance. He was not what I was looking for on the trip, but it was the last hour of the last morning (we were leaving by noon).

The gun buck a friend took in Iowa county, WI. I had never seen this buck in person or on camera, but he showed up in the first few minutes of opening day in 2010.

Back in my first season I was with a cousin. A buck walked by with a 3 point rack swinging loose from his head . Someone must have just hit the base on an angle. The other side was was only a nub. This was before hunter's choice so it was only legal on one side. . We registered that one fast, before the horn fell off. Two years ago I shot one with three horns with a total of ten points that scored just over 100 (not much width). I will have to try and post a picture.

I love all the pics of oddball deer and I hate to be the first to say it, but it almost seems like some guys are in a sense trying to ethnically cleanse deer. I know it is a little hard to swallow, but essentially that is the intent, they want to kill the "inferior" deer so that the "superior" can thrive. I certainly have never had the thought that any buck was a "cull buck", that's the kinda crap I hear while I'm changing the channel from some hunting show from Texas. Is that what this state is becoming? I know, making a holocaust comparison is a bit risque, but essentially that's what it is, well for those of you that respect these animals as much as I do.

Here is one I smacked a few years ago and one on the trail camera from this year. Shot a different buck on the same morning this guy was under a different stand.

I've shot 3 bucks on my parents property over the years that had 5 points on one side and just a big nub on the other. If it had matching racks would be about 125 inches. It's ashamed. I probably should have passed them but maybe the wouldn't matter. Now they are just pile of racks sitting in my basement. Also I shot a nice buck with 7 on one side and another with 6 and just a long spike. All of these bucks appeared healthy and no injuries. Pretty weird. Maybe just genetics around there.

Here's one I shot only cause he was wounded. A neighbor shot over the fence and hit him. 3wks later I was able to get him. We found the other side of rack a few weeks later.

Don't have any pics handy but we have seen a few the last few years. In 2009 I bow killed a true 6pt, 3 a side that scored almost 120. Pic is on LL bow kills somewhere. My dad shot a buck missing almost a whole side, broken off. And this year we had a buck that looked like he grew both sides on the same side. Had matching points for nearly every point on one side. 10pts on one half 2 pts on the left. He's pretty cool looking.

We hunted him for 2 months before we found his rotted carcass in a fencerow still in velvet. He was hit by a car, before the season even started.
