Tracks for ATV

Thinking about getting a track system for my quad. Is it legal to ride snowmobile trails if I have it? run into situations in northern wi wher I want to travel lake ice fishing and have to use a snowmobile trail. However the trail is closed for ATVs.

for what you have to pay for tracks for your ATV, you could buy a really really nice used snowmobile and have change left over.

I'd ask the DNR. The trail may still be closed to the ATV due to speed differences & the fact that it is still an ATV. Other than trying to get on the ATV trails, tracks seem like more bother & expense than they are worth. I'd just chain up if need be.
