atv tire chains

?my buddy just bought a new polaris he wants chains but fleet farm is sold out in valley ,going thru dealer for them is double price,,i have a pr of frt tire chains for size 25x8x12 his tires are 25x10x12 can he just put them on for weekend or is that not goining to work just thought id ask before we go threw the hassle of putting them on...

pretty sure they would fit same size tire just a tad wider is all. I really don't see need for tire chains at all unless pulling say a heavy wooden permanent ice shanty onto an all ice covered with no snow lake. I've used my atv for snowplowing stock tires no problems plenty of traction usually with very little spinning of tires.

Because your old chains are smaller they don't go around the whole tire and may cut into the sidewall of the backs. Not worth the risk. Buy them online and you will get them in a week if that helps. $63 on Ebay free shipping, Cabelas web site has them for $55
