The only thing Honda or another manufacturer might do is void your warranty for not using their part. Then again being that this is an off road vehicle they can find 1,000's of ways to void you. Stihl chain saws will void you if you don't use their oil, it is dyed. Got news for you, if the saw was used by a township, fire dept. or other similar use they might void your warranty by misuse.

go onto wix or purolator oil filter website and cross reference your vehicle to see which oil filter they make to fit your honda. Another good oil filter is mobil1 or even bosch. 1 of those 4 quality filters should be able to get what you want for a few bucks cheaper than a honda dealership at auto parts stores. Polaris dealer wants 12 bucks for an oil filter they don't make and has their name on it and I can get them cheaper thru wix at auto parts stores on sale for around 6-7 bucks. Buy 2-3 on sale if you find them on sale saves a few bucks.

The dealers get a maximum price for simple parts. Take it to an auto parts store or shop one on line to see if they can match it. I have no brand loyalty, I change my oil and filter on a regular basis on all machines and have no oil related issues.

I usually get mine from the Dennis Kirk mail order company. They are at denniskirk.com & usually have several to choose from.

Mechanic here at work always talks about some project they did in school where they tore apart several different oil filters. Fram had the by far the least amount of "filtering capacity" inside. Fo a couple dollars more I would buy a better filter.

I myself have used FRAM almost exclusively since the late 80's and have never had a known adverse issue with them.

Been using FRAM filters for years.. My Suzuki Eiger has almost 5000 miles on using FRAM filters........Had a 1991 Honda Accord that had 317,000 on it using FRAM filters........Been a mechanic for 25 plus years never had problems with FRAM filters

fram filters are not very good and would not recommend them for anything.

I either use Polaris OEM filters for my polaris or have bought K&N oil filters at twice the price for my arctic cat ATV.  I also have heard good things about hi-flo oil filters and recently bought one that is identical in color, shape and size as the K&N and have heard hi-flo makes some K&N oil filters and from what I have seen are identical in design and function except paying an extra 5-7 bucks just for the easy on/off nut welded on the end.

Better off getting them at Napa...Fram is bottom of the barrel, Napa filters are produced by Wix which are pretty good.

Check out K&N filters online..what I like about them is they come with a 5/8 nut built onto the end of the filter...makes taking off and putting back on a lot easier since the spots they mount filters is usually so tight and the filters so small you cant get a wrench around them.

Yes, there is a Fram filter that fits most Hondas, my 2002 Foreman for instance. I don't have the number available though.

I wouldn't buy a fram oil filter let alone use one even if free. Your HOnda will not run forever like it should if you do.
