Charging system - voltage

Had issues last yr with the battery icon flashing. If I turned on the lights it went away. Thought maybe the stator was overcharging and thus the battery light would come on. Ran it a few times this summer time to get ready for ice fishing. It hasn't done it all summer. Did a test via the tach and it said it's charging with the RPM's up at 14.6V. Drops down to 11 something at idle. 14.6 doesn't sound like it's too far out of line. It always starts and run perfect. Is this voltage reading too high ?? Can't find anything in my book or on line.

Ijust put a stator and regulator/rectifier in my 03 rancher. If your neutral light is flickering, and charging over 14.4 you will need a stator sooner or later. I boiled out two batteries in two years because of overcharging. Slow battery drainage for three years was the start of it. I had a short in the stator, the cause of it all. world is good now and no recoil pulling.
