Fished the oak creek power plant Saturday, it was very cold with a high of 11 degrees at 6 am and very high winds. Lots of fish there and lots of followers on the spoons but could not get them to quite hit them. missed a few on spawn and saw a few guys catch a few small browns besides that the bite was somewhat slow.
Water: 35°

Directions to the fishing pier:
From I-94 take Ryan Road East all the way to state highway 32, take a right on state highway 32 and go South to Oakwood Road, turn left on Oakwood Road and head East, go over the railroad tracks and immediately on your right is the gate entrance to we-energies property. Follow the road South and eventually it will make a left turn and continue East and down the North hill along the plant. At the bottom of the hill is a parking lot at the head of the fishing pier. The large parking lot on the south side along the plant is for we-energies plant personnel, if you park on the east end of that lot, you will be towed. if the parking area for the fishing pier is full then you are allowed to park along the north side of hill you came down on, right along the green fence, the south side of the fishing pier parking lot by the porta potty is reserved for handicap parking.
If you go a little further South past Oakwood Road there is a bait shop on the west side of highway 32 (Sandy's Port Of Call?).
As far as baits go, live minnows on Wolf river rigs or slip rigs work, casting Kalin jigs & Kalin plastic jerk minnows in white also work along with casting spoons like Cleos, Krocodiles and even casting crankbait style lues such as Shadraps and other shad style baits. Minnows and spawn sacks floated below a slip bobber in the current works as well. Something to consider when fishing the pier is a long-handled net is needed to reach the water and I will say a collapsible 10 to 12 footer is needed.

My son and his friends are starting to fish more on their own.. they are 15 and fishing with Dad is okay I guess... I have heard of this pier but never been down there... Sounds like a safe place for young men to enjoy and fish... Any information on how to get there and what you use .. They have been fishing the lagoon by summer fest grounds.. any help would be appreciated...
This is a notice to all that fish/use the Oak Creek Power Plant / Elm Road Generating Station fishing pier. This coming Wednesday March 15th at sunrise the fishing pier will once again open for the year. This is all dependent on weather conditions, if the weather is going to produce snow or freezing rain along with high winds (combination of all three or by itself) that can keep the pier closed until favorable weather allows the pier to reopen.
The fishing pier is not managed for snow removal, so if a late spring snow fall covers the pier, the pier will remain closed until warmer weather melts the snow on the pier.
Please follow all pier rules when fishing the pier (they are posted) remember to watch each other for any possible safety issues such as someone fishing on the outside of the handrails, we hope you police the rules on your own and remind each other of the rules if you see someone violating one. Also remember the pier is being monitor 24/7 by security cameras and all have recording capabilities on them and have a very good zoom range. The cameras are there for public safety and to monitor safe use of the fishing pier.
As always there will be times that the pier will be closed for some maintenance throughout the year, closures will be posted here on this site the day before that happens and right the work is completed.
Picnic tables and garbage cans are being supplied for your use while on the pier please use them at your disposal. A porta potty along with along with a wash station will also be provided at the head of the walkway in the parking area.
Enjoy a good fishing year and please be safe!
