Sorry gobbler just think there should be more opportunities allowed on poygan for sturgeon spearing I believe a lot of fish from bago r up there .But Im sure it won't change like walleyes the population sense we went to 3 fish limit has to have rose sense then and they will never raise it.
Time to raise the quota on sturgeon spearing on poygan alot.Dont u think alot of Winnebago fish r up there do to warm weather trends?Probably won't change just like walleyes how much ad that population rose sense went threw fish limit.Just a few options please don't freak.
Ice seemed solid, 13" in most holes. Some places more some a bit less. ATVs all over, zero truck traffic. A few sturgeon holes we found barely skimmed over. About 1-2" of snow on the ice, wear cleats it's slick. Most people seemed to access off Noffkes.
Lots of people moving today. Fish pretty tight lipped. High pressure, blue skies and no clouds. What do you expect. The more traffic the less fish, get outside the groups and you'll do better.
Hope this helps good luck.

Got off the gurner early this afternoon. filled up the diesel and gibbled out. Not bad for a Thursday I was on the ice by 2:15. Started out in the hole but wasn’t marking. Moved toward the canes. Garth put out a few tipups while I jigged. Marked a few jibblers but no bites. Around 4 Steenis heard from his buddy that fish were being caught on the west end of the lake so we made another move. Picked away at them pretty good until around 6 then they shut off. Combined between the three of us we ended the day one eye short of our limit.
Couple keepers, no braggers.

Cloudy 23°
Ice: 10"
6AM-2PM fished with smaller spoons and jigging raps and had ZERO success. Worst day of the year for me, temperature change with the snowstorm didnt help but really solid 10 inches of ice, only 1 guy with a truck. Talked to a few people and they had no luck as well. Stay safe out there!
