Rock River / Hustisford

This Saturday the Rock River Rescue will stock fish at the Division Street bridge at Riverside Park in Watertown at 9 am. We will stock musky, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, bluegill, and perch. Come on down and lend a hand.

That's what I was thinking.  There were much less visible fish today, could be that the water level is a bit higher.  Tried pack bait, couldn't keep the lines wet.  Tons of channel cats and a good number of carp.  Constant action was very cool.  One carp was 12lbs, one was 15lbs.

They are mostly Buffalo. Buffalo are predominantly filter feeders, meaning they don't often bite anything we would present to them.

Does anyone know if the massive amount of fish visible at the dam are bigmouth buffalo, or carp?  I am using corn on a hook and can occassionally get a few carp.  I get a fair amount of small channel cats.  Would love to catch some of the massive visible fish.  Going to try pack bait and hair rigs.  If they are buffalo, is the only option worms? TIA

Saturday, June 3rd the Rock River Rescue is holding our annual "Cash for Carp" tournament at Riverside Park in Watertown. We pay $1 for every carp caught, as well as $25 for the largest and smallest carp of the day. There is no cost to enter, just register before you start fishing. Registration begins at 7 A.M.
