Mississippi River Pool 9 - Genoa

Waters edge facebook site had a report from 2 days ago saying the launch was open with little ice coming through the dam. And agree on captain hooks, great place. 

cldwtr - I assume - but do not know for certain - that there was only about 2 weeks this year that the launch went unused.

I live in Waukesha and if I had the time I would not hesitate to reserve a room for a couple nites and drive out without texting or calling anyone I know in the area,...But I have already touched bases a week or so ago so there's that.

Best though - if you don't know anyone out there - is to call Cap't Hooks. You can recognize and trust the voice,and you can get an immediate answer.

Does anyone know if the launch is open? Thanks in advance

I Launched at blackhawk saturday, a little skin ice here and there, fished up to dam and back, few guys were ice fishing on some back sloughs, but I think will be gone 

Hi all

I know at least one or two were out on backwater shallow water really thin ice early last week but I'm guessing that's done for a bit.

I'd like to launch my boat at Blackhawk and Dairyland,fishing below the dam,MN slough,maybe some other areas later this week. I'm assuming I won't have a problem but the drive is almost 3 hours. Could anyone let me know about launch/river conditions please?

If you're looking to get out on the airboat this winter, give me a shout. Dates are filling in quickly and I expect to be full for the season in the next 2 weeks.  Get a few buddies, come on over to the Mississippi and let's make some great memories on the ice!! 

It was a bit nippy out there this morning but enough action in the snow to make it interesting.

The river is predicted to raise 5 feet in Dubuque in the next 10 days.

8-9” of rain will make the folks down towards NO very happy!       

Fished Tuesday about 4 hours with good action on Saugers.

Fished about 3 hours today. The river came up about a foot and the weeds were downright evil. Caught one nice Sauger and gave up because of the weeds. Just couldn't fish where the fish are. Saw fairly good action on the float but they were having weed issues.

The river is gonna come up another couple of feet and the fishing by the dam is gonna get really tough.

Fyi...Heard this morning north of lacrosse in Trempeleau county...8-9" rain over the past couple days. And it's not done yet.
Alotta water will be coming down the Mississippi and black rivers in the next couple days. Flood warnings posted til 10/31.
Down by me in Pool 7, rain gauge showed about 2". Sure been a soggy week so far.

Gonna come up within the next week. Fished lynxville and Genoa by boat. Not on barge. Will recent rains mess up fishing and whtch one would you consider  better.
I fish pool 14. Eyes are in the fast H20

Fished Clements Barge today for about a half day. Jigs and minnows were the main ticket. Got a few deadsticking minnows. My color today for jigs that worked best was the lime green blue hair jig. Decent amount of fish coming in all over the barge. Mainly sauger but a few perch and a few walleyes. And a few cats. I am holding my brothers and my stringer so I have over 6 sauger in the picture. Nice day. Good chili out there in the kitchen on the float today.
