Was out on the IL.river yesterday, very windy so we headed up the Vermillion, did real good up there, limited out on sauger, walleye, 3 over 17.5, caught some white bass about a dozen, couple big females, 2 nice catfish all in all a nice time on the river, got out of the wind, need to warm up some, the river will come alive

Stopped by Starved Rock for a few hours yesterday in the afternoon. Not too many anglers out and only saw one fish caught off the side wall. Small Striped bass. Water seemed low. Myself lost more minnows to the snags than bites. At least it was not raining.

Anyone go looking for the Asian carp? Or have them find you? I was checking out the bow fishing association of Il and they talk of launching out of S Rock and heading toward the Vermillion. I've wanted to do this for years and this year my BIL and I are going to do it on fathers day weekend while in Morris visiting family. Plan on taping the trip. Batter up. Anyone have any experiences with em?

I was out Sunday the 10th, fished Starved Rock dam 7:00am to 9:00 am caught 2 Sauger, both 17-18 inches. Caught 4 whities 10-12 in. I fished mostly with blades, the water is still to cold for the blade baits. Lots of boats fishing the main channel for eyes and sauger. We tried the Vermillion and snagged a asian Sad. We also got a couple of whities. Water is pretty clear. I'm trying for Weds. morning. I like the pier they put in at Starved Rock. Does any one know if the state did that or one of the clubs? Tight lines everyone. Gemman

As far as all the fish from the MWC goes. I heard that all of the fish that were not spawned out conservation took and gathered milt and eggs. I'm sure all fish were released back to the river after this process and so will the offspring once the reach proper size.

Well mgrell, their is a 14" min on walleye and sauger on the IL river. If you see people keeping 10" fish then you need to speak up. Those are the people that destroy fisheries! They should be reported and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I have no respect for these scum cause I pay for my lisence and follow the rules and respect the outdoors.

What kind of fish were people keeping under 10in? Personally I thing they should slot the walleye and up the size limit on sauger. The walleye should be slotted from 15in or 16in to 20in with one over 27in. Not to many eyes over 18in are being caught on a regular basis over the last few yrs. We need to build a stronger stock of bigger fish. And as for sauger, 14in is tiny. you dont even get a decent fillet out of them. Im suprised that the sauger population hasnt been wiped out. For two weeks in a row fri sat and sun there was 150 boats out each day most keeping limits of pregnant females. I know there was a bunch of tourneys going on and am not sure if they kept them after tourney was over. Hope not. If so, I understand cause saugers are DELICIOUS!!! Also there should be a size limit for white bass should be 12in. Again anything smaller is a tiny fillet. They barely even get a chance to breed before people harvest them. Ive seen alot of shore fishermen taking 5 and 6in whities. Unreal!!! Hope things change in the future or the IL river is done for. Please dont yell at me. Its only an opinion. thanks
