Ok here we go?. For the past 40yrs. I?ve fished this lake, early in those years the Muskie action was great and the pike were big and bass were pretty nonexistent and the latter years things changed a lot! Pike became nonexistent and small, bass fishing became great and Muskie fishing went down in a hurry. Back in the day the lake was stocked with walleye and Muskie and now nothing. The D.N.R. has done nothing to clean the lake of the very, very, very bad weed infestation that has took over this lake the last 10yrs. The last Muskie I caught in this lake was during the hodag Muskie challenge I believe in 2018 and it was a very nice one at 46.5 inches and was the winner of the biggest Muskie award. The D.N.R. needs and has to get the weeds under control they are so thick you could actually walk on them making it impossible to fish. And start to stock it once again. The lake association needs to step up and help but none of the will.

Fished Hancock five times. A good action lake. Bass fishing is good, lots of small to medium northern and I did catch a nice a 40+ Muskie and we raised several more. Down side or good side is the small boat landing area. Hard to get a big boat in when water is low.

I've only fished this lake twice and the bass action is by far the best I've had all season. Yes, there are lots of smaller size fish, but with the right presentation and location, you can boat a lot of 2 - 4 lbers all day with ease. Plenty of action to keep you busy all day!

This is a great lake for largemouth. You can really have a lot of fun. Largemouth have a big size range from under 12" to over 20". The lake is consistently producing bigger fish. Thanks to good conservation.

Hey PMan,
The last thing Hancock needs is more guides. The lake wouldn't be in the shape it's in today had the guides insisted that their clients catch and RELEASE the muskies.
All in all, Hancock is a good fishing lake especially for panfish. I agree with Bill "Z", walleye's are few and far between. Let's hope the DNR continues to monitor the lake and does some stocking.

I don't know who that imposter (BillZ Man)is that wrote that FALSE disgusting review (supposed to be funny?)But nothing could be further from the truth. This is an excellent fishing lake for all species, except walleye, they're hard to locate, but when you do they get some nice fish.It can produce nice sized bass too,if you know where to look.Take a kid fishing?Bring them here, they'll have a ball catching the abundant panfish. It would be nice to see a fresh stocking of Muskie and walleye, but it's not a perfect world,so if your willing to work a lttle for your trophy,it's a great lake.
