Lake Ruth

Alright...walk down the shore and fish between two tiny little trees growing up just along the shore. I promise you will catch a nice one. Where did all the "dads" go. I wanted to eat some.

Different year, same story. Caught some nice largemouths and bluegills from shore on leeches under a slip bobber. Biggest largie was 17-18" and the gills were above average, the largest being 8-9".

Nice lake....Right cross the street from the cabin. Wanted to catch some walley's on the chain but my friend had to go to hospital. Still some sweet bass. Nice fighers. Another week would have been some sweet keepers. Anyway...Jerod Satzer did catch a giant log that he fought pretty hard with. I think he thought he had a muskee or something. But just to chill and such its a pretty fun lake.

Only report is from shore fishin. Hit one bass at 8:30 AM. Missed the boat on the early mornin, thinkin they were hittin good from 6:30 to 8 AM and hit hard from shore again between 6 and 7:30 PM. Nothin real big, but some good fighters, 15 to 17 inchers. Nice fat sunnies after the bass stopped bitin, but guys in boat hit some bigger bass and a northern at the same time in boat a little further off shore. Bass were caught on leaches, fake crawdad, and berkely power grubs. The bait may have been too small for the big ones.

I have been on the lake for 33 years, my father, grandfather and great grandfather before him. Yes, we have had a cabin there for near a hundred years. This lake used to be great! I remember going out to the middle of the lake and bringing in a string of Crappies or going into the bay and pulling in lots of Bass. Yes, crayfish had a lot to do with it. But you are not correct about the DNR putting in Northerns. We know of the individual who put in his own stock of them. He put them in to get rid of the Suckers, yes Suckers. You used to be able to sit at the end of the dock and see schools of them. The Northern took them out, thank god! But The Bass have been making a comeback. Sure, now it is not a great lake for fishing. It is a small lake and not very deep. So, if you know your history of the lake you would know that the people who live on it don't live their for the fishing. They live their because of no large motorboats, no noisy neighbors, 1/3 of the lake is in the National Forest. But most of all it is because of the nature. Waking up to a pair of Loons, seeing the Heron on your dock or the Eagle circling above. That is what Ruth Lake is about. You can take your children there and not worry about wanna be naturemen. This lake was never great. Crayfish had alot to do with it. Still it produces nice bass and decent crappies. Walleyes haven't been caught here for years. Those people that put northerns in there saved the lake. The DNR stocked muskies six years ago. Pike and muskies are what keeps this lake average. The jerks are the ones that don't understand whats destroying our lakes. It's not fish!

Was A Great Lake, Till Some Jerk Put Norhterns In It. Now They Have Eatin Everything.
