Heading to Lake Alice tomorrow and I'm wondering if the walleye are active? It's my first trip this year and I've never fished it this early before.

Anyone have a report on these lakes, especially the Rhinelander/Boom Lake Chain?

We need to open up the 22 mile stretch of fishing on the wisconsin river again. Why not just tighten up the ristrictions, instead of completely shutting it down. The Wi. River is open in the rest of the state. All this is going to do is to put more fishing pressure on the other stretches of river. I don't think the Lake association should have the power to influence the DNR, in closing this section of river!!! They do not own the water...they may own a piece of land on the lake, but not the water!! We need to fight this....Why not make a trophy water or something?? 28" inch size limit, at least you can still fish this water!!!!!

GL, both have great size Muskie and bass (especially smallmouths) and I'd say Mohawksin has the better size walleye and Alice better panfish.

Get a map for both lakes if you are not familar, as there are many areas of boating danger (stumps, rocks, deep to shallow, etc..). Mohawksin has a fishing hot spots map and the only map for Lake Alice is a paper map sold a Chuck's bait shop in Tomahawk...was made by a local. Once you look at the maps, you'll understand what I mean, especially Lake Alice with stump in 10 - 25 feet of water! They are there, I fished them this week.

New to fishing in the area. Could anyone give their opinion/experience on which is a better fishing lake between Mohawksin and Alice? I like to fish for panfish, bass, walleye and musky.

Thanks

Fished Lake Alice Oct. 3-5. Mostly jigged w/live bait for walleye. Had to move quite a bit to locate concentrations of fish. Results were pretty good, largest walleye 18.75", no smallmouth, no northern, a few crappie and perch. 3 guys fishing averaged a total of 55 fish per day. Did very little casting and no results. A fair number of duck hunters out and about.

No one fishing these waters?

Seems like I'll have them to myself.

Please post reports if you have one.

Thanks!
