Will be up there the week of 7/12 for the 1st time.  Anything I should know about the lake or any tips would be great.  I will have a 3yr old who is excited to be fishing with grandpa (me) and I'd like to at least  get him into some gills big enough to give him a fight and/or numbers to really get him hooked.

windy week 15mph.....this from Sept 19th week....last 2 days finally caught some fish, walleye, 12", perch 5" and 3 smalls...2 of which were huge by my standards: 18+". Only thing to make me consider coming back. Water temp wa still too warm and this week was 70s+Boat launch on HWY H not too friendly. But Timber Bay is a great place to stay. Cool

Ice starting to soften on the east end. Shoreline receding and out to first bay ice is about 13 inches. Perch starting to leave Mud and coming into shallows. South shore of east bay holds nice Cabbage weeds and perch are in them, have to sort through dinks and Bluegills to get nice Perch. I suspect if you can get to Dillman's Bar the weeds will have big ones too.

I just got back from a few days on White Sand Lake with the family. This was the second year in a row that I took the family to Dillman's Resort for half week trip. Walleye fishing was pretty good. I managed to catch about 30 Walleyes. Most were in the 13-15" range, several were 16", a couple of 17" and there were 3 between 18 and 19.5". The walleye were biting so well I didn't do as much bass fishing this year, but I did manage to catch some nice Smallmouths including a 16.5" and a 17". My daughter caught a few panfish and I also caught 3 Northern Pike. I did spend some time casting for Muskies, but never saw a fish. Almost all of the walleyes were caught on a 4" Berkley Gulp Minnow on an 1/8 oz. jig. Bass were taken on Gulp, Tube jigs, spinnerbaits and Zara Spooks. Pike were caught on spinnerbaits. Walleye bit best early in the morning between 5:00am and 6:30am and also in the evening between 6:30pm and 8:00pm. I was finding the walleyes in 7-10' of water on the edges of points and bars with some scattered weeds. This lake has great structure. I just wish I knew where the muskies are.

Walleye were VERY slow last week. Only caught a few and all but one were under the size limit. Smallmouth were more active, but most of those were too small to keep also.
