I have heard the Kalins 5” grubs in smoke color match the Gobies very good. I would think that this time of year the fish would be in twenty plus depths on any rocky structure you can find. I would try that if it were me. The article I read stated to just reel them fast enough to tick the rocks. Also, fish them on a Kalin’s darter head jig.

You might want to hire a guide like Dale Stroschein ,from Wacky Walleye guide service ,and have him give you some pointers !
John Gillespie from Tv show Wisconsin Waters and Woods fishes with him all the time , and hammers em ! However its costly ,if you can get another person or two to share the expense , at least maybe he can show you a few spots and techniques so you can get rid of that skunk !
I consider myself a decent fisherman. Every where I go I catch something but I’ll be damned if SB isn’t my unicorn!! 5th trip and reeking of skunk! Fish shallow, mid, deep. Cranks, jerks, twister tails, tubes you name it. Nada every damn time. What the hell am I doing wrong?!
Does anyone head up to Whaleback shoal? If yes, do you have any success? Appreciate any information.
Fished yesterday 4 to 8 pm. 1 shaker. Was surveyed by DNR at launch and found out fishing has been shut down for over a week. Wish I would have known that before loading.
Will be in egg harbor mid August. Any suggestion from shore? Already stocked up on gobie swim baits, crawfish swim baits and plastics. Just looking for smallies from shore or eyes. Any help would be appreciated. Ty!
Fished solo Saturday and with an old neighbor Sunday morning. Launched out of Stone Quarry and targeted Little harbor area. Drop Shot out performed Ned and Tubes by far, Surprised that the fish were shallow. Usually fish the 16-30 foot range around now, but found most on the 10-16 depths. Nothing over 19" but plenty of fish between 16 and 18". Finished up Saturday with 14 solo and 33 today with the neighbor, including 3 double headers. Great trip.
Check your PM. I'm heading up for a solo 1-1/2 day trip tomorrow with boat........
Launched out of peninsula Park at 6am ish off at 3:45..stayed in eagle harbor area, trolling motor only on the blowup boat..15 or so bass, none big for here, but big for me. One has a weird sore in the picture.. The trusty tube, green pumpkin chomper salty, outfished worms n minnows, but I cover alot more ground with the tube with 100+ casts. Hit 3 spots, started 20 foot hump 1 fish 2 gobie, then went to 18-19 casting out to 22-25. Found some fish highways..usually when my tube released from something that's usually when I got bit. My fave 24 hour gas station only had little minnows so I used 2 or whole crawlers on a slip bobber and deadstick got a few nice ones..it was like a whirlpool with boat traffic, but great day on the bay..
Also.... I believe there is a big walleye tournament that runs Friday and Saturday. Try and find out where the weigh-in is and become a spectator, you might learn something that will help you during your stay.
