Drove by yesterday on my way to ice fish another lake. Geese were everywhere in the water. They are keeping the ice from forming.

There looked to be skim ice along the shores, but it did not look strong.

4-5" on the lake I fished on the edges, with 2" or less once we got out past 12-15' deep.

I would strongly recommend people stay off until the cold drives the geese away.

It does not appear they planted anything. I went there last night with the kids and saw nobody catch a thing and did not see one swirl. in years past when they planted them you would see them jumping and swirling. Water was very brown form all of the goose crap. I remember the golden years on the quarry. bucket of giant perch, even walleyes and the huge bass now the geese just use it as a toilet. dumping all the rock of front when they built the marina also wrecked a lot of the prime spawning ground.

Quarry was recently stock with little 9-10" rainbows. Corn works best. Looked like more action towards the North end.

Do they still stock trout in here? I remember years back my dad and I Ice fished it and found trout. He asked me the other day if they still have trout, I think he'd like to try it.

The Quarry is specified by the DNR as Urban Waters. The regulations are below and can be found on page 21 of the fishing regulations. http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/regulations/2011/documents/FishingRegs11-12.pdf

Special regulations on designated urban waters in the Southeast Region are: a yearround season, no length limits, and a special season (March 12 thru April 29, 2011) for juveniles 15 years of age and younger and certain disabled anglers. They also have a daily bag limit of three (3) trout, one (1) gamefish (largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, sauger, and northern pike), and ten (10) panfish (bluegill, crappie, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, and bullhead).

The Quarry is considered an inland water way. To fish there you need an inland trout stamp on your licenses. Of course if your kids are under 16 they don't need anything but you do.

Hope this helps. :
